Located of Homer Watson Blvd near Manitou Drive. There are Grand River transit options available to access the institution.
Visiting Details
Anyone interested in visiting an incarcerated person at Grand Valley Institution for Women must first call the Institution to request a visitor application package. The package will be sent by mail. Once the application is completed and sent back, the institution’s visitor review board reviews it and successful applicants are added to the visitor list. Once on the visitor list, visitors can call and book visits. Call 48 hours in advance to book a visit and to inquire about visiting times as they vary depending on security level and the day of the week. Visitors are allowed to bring change for the vending machines up to $10 per visitor. There are toys and books for children in the visiting area.
Security
Visitors go through an ion scanner and metal detector. Security screening is similar to an airport. There are also dogs and dog handlers on occasion.
